RCIA - The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS prepares adults for the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist in the midst of the St. Mary’s Community.
Through the Sunday liturgy and weekly catechesis, catechumens (unbaptized) and candidates (baptized) experience the Word of God, Catholic doctrine and Catholic culture.
The period of the catechumentate begins with the Rite of Acceptance (unbaptized) or the Rite of Welcome (baptized) and concludes with the Rite of Election on the first Sunday of Lent.
The period of the catechumenate is an on-going, year-round process. You may enter at any time. How long an individual is in the catechumenate depends on the individual’s needs.
The Sacraments of Initiation are celebrated at the Easter Vigil.
Adult Confirmation only, for those already baptized and have made their First Eucharist, takes place in the Fall as well.
